Our apartments are centrally located, and perfect for work, study and tourism alike. We have selected key points in the map for you to best plan your trip. The map on the right shows our 3 addresses as well as: the main train station, the university, Inselspital, as well as some selected tourist attractions (such as the parliament building and the Gurten mountain). If you are staying with us for a couple of days and weeks, you shall also receive the Bern Tickets, which you can use for public transportation inside the city!
Bern Tourism (located at the main train station) is a great place to get information about visits, transportations and tours. We have, however, made a short list here of our favourites!
the Swiss
Parliament
building
Did you know Switzerland is a rare example of a modern direct democracy and that the swiss vote multiple times a year to pass on legislation? Or that the country is run by a 7-member council instead of a single head of state?
The Swiss Parliament in Bern is where the magic happens, and the building is as beautiful from the inside as it is from the outside. Tours are available and should be booked in advance. There are also a number of restaurants and cafes around the building.

Marzili
by the Aare
Summer can be quite warm in the city, and Marzili is the most famous outdoor swimming pool in town. It is great for adults and children, where you will also have the option of playing beach volleyball at their court or table tennis.
The experienced swimmers also have the option of jumping in the Aare (the river), but please note the currents are strong and you shall be unsupervised! Still, it is very popular among the bernese and you may also find companies that rent inflatable boats for longer river rides.

Tierpark
close to nature
Numerous domestic and exotic animals have found a home between the Aare and the Dählhölzli Forest, an area that boasts “more space for fewer animals”.
If you are walking down the path by the Aare (south to the centre), you might see a couple of animals on the other side! The zoo is a great place for a walk and kids and adults alike love it.
The park is closest to the Friedheimweg and Funkstrasse apartments (less than a 15 minute walk), though Lorraine guests will find themselves there with a 25 minute bus ride.

Discover the
Gurten
mountain
Gurten has an amazing view of the city and the alps. It is accessible by funicular (Gurtenbahn) that takes you to the beautiful park where you can do a picnic or go to the local restaurant. If you are sporty and adventurous, you can also hike up the mountain.
During winter you will find a sledding slope and a cute mini ski lifts. It is also possible, of course, to have a nice fondue and local wine. The annual open-air music festival called Gurten Festival poses a super exciting atmosphere and a variety of bands.
