Did you know Switzerland is a rare example of a modern direct democracy and that the swiss vote multiple times a year to pass on legislation? Or that the country is run by a 7-member council intead of a single head of state?
The Swiss Parliament in Bern is where the magic happens, and the building is as beautiful from the inside as it is from the outside. Tours are available and should be booked in advance. There are also a number ofrestaurants and cafes around the building.

From your apartment: 7-10 min with Tram 9 direction Wankdorf or a 25-30-minute walk.
Summer can be quite warm in the city, and Marzili is the most famous outdoor swimmingpool in town. It is great for adults and children, where you will also have the option of playing beach volleyball at their court or table tennis.
The experienced swimmers also have the option of jumping in the Aare (the river), but please note the currents are strong and you shall be unsupervised! Still, it is very popular among the bernese and you may also find companies that rent inflatable boats for longer river rides.

From your apartment: a 17-23 minutes walk.
Numerous domestic and exotic animals have found a home between the Aare and the Dählhölzli Forest, an area that boasts “more space for fewer animals”.
The zoo is great for a healthy walk and kids love it. The best part is: as an Armotti guest you will be at a walking distance from the park.

From your apartment: 14 minute walk.
Gurten has an amazing view of the city and the alps. It is accessible by funicular (Gurtenbahn) that takes you to the beautiful park where you can do a picknick or go to the local restaurant. If you are sporty and adventurous, you can also hike up the mountain.
During winter you will find a sledding slope and a cute mini ski lifts. It is also possible, of course, to have a nice fondue and local wine.
The annual open-air music festival called Gurten Festival poses a super exciting atmosphere and a variety of bands.
From your apartment: 7-15 minute walk to Gurten's train station.
Kornhaus/Old town, University of Bern, Inselspital and others
Kornhaus, the former city granery, was turned into a charming restaurant and bar that is worth peaking into. It also happens to be in the heart of the old town, with many historical buildings such as the Zytglogge.
Armotti Apartments is also a good option for those studying or working in the University of Bern (a pretty building also for tourists to visit) or the Inselspital (the main hospital in town).
